Description
As many of you know, Columbiana Project Playground recently lost one of the most beautiful and inspiring little girls — Sofia “Sia” Kale — whose courage and spirit were the heart behind our mission to create an all-inclusive playground for children of every ability.
In 2020, Sia was diagnosed with Leukodystrophy and Epilepsy — rare neurological disorders that affect the protective covering of nerve cells in the brain and spine. Despite these challenges, Sia faced each day with incredible strength and a radiant smile. Over time, her illness took away her ability to walk and talk, leaving her fully dependent on the care of her loved ones. But nothing could take away her joy, her laughter, or the love she shared with her family — especially her two siblings, who adored her dearly.
It’s children like Sia who remind us why inclusive spaces are so important. Columbiana Project Playground was built with families like hers in mind — a place where every child, no matter their ability, can play, laugh, and belong.
Sia’s mother, Stephanie Kale, serves as our Vice President of Design and has poured her heart into making this dream a reality. Your donation today will not only honor Sia’s beautiful legacy but will help ensure that children and adults of all abilities can experience the simple joy of playing and spending time together — just as Sia loved to do.
Checks can also be mailed to PO BOX 156, Columbiana, Ohio 44408. Please make a note that this is for Sia Kale.
