“This is a good fit for us because our volunteers are committed to supporting Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park, and we’ve been aware of the need to bring the well-loved playground up-to-date, ensuring inclusivity for guests of all abilities and every age to enjoy,” said Sean Zentner, Columbiana Craft BeerFest Chair.

COLUMBIANA, Ohio – The American Legion Unit 290 Auxiliary has donated $1,000 toward the new playground project at Firestone Park.
The donation will go directly toward the construction and maintenance of a state-of-the-art, inclusive playground that will replace Funland, which was built by volunteers and community members in 1995.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the American Legion Unit 290 Auxiliary for their generosity and commitment to our community,” said Michaela Good, president of Columbiana Project Playground, a grassroots initiative aimed at constructing the playground.
COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana Project Playground recently received a $10,000 grant from the Columbiana Community Foundation. The grant will be used to help fund Phase II of their efforts which includes collecting proposals and designs of the new all inclusive playground structure (covering the cost of fundraising, design renderings, proposal fees, etc.). The new structure will replace the current Funland Playground, a wooden playground that was constructed in the 90’s but has since fallen into disrepair, according to the organization’s website. Read more

The funds will be used for the second phase of the project, which includes collecting proposals and designs for the new, all-inclusive playground structure. The funds will cover the costs of fundraising, design renderings, proposal fees and other expenses.
